CCAMLR annually reviews information on Illegal, Unreported & Unregulated (IUU) fishing activities in the Convention Area and, in accordance with Conservation Measures 10-06 and 10-07, has established a List of IUU Vessels of Contracting and non-Contracting Parties. Vessels included on the List are presumed to have engaged in IUU activities in the Convention Area thus undermining the effectiveness of CCAMLR Conservation measures in force.
Additionally, the Trygg Matt Foundation, in conjunction with Stop Illegal Fishing (a working group of the NEPADS’ International Partnership for African Fisheries Programme), has developed a website that includes a searchable database of vessels blacklisted in world wide Regional Fisheries Management Organisations for participating in IUU fishing.
